IAAI Fee Calculator
An IAAI fee calculator shows the published buyer fee, bid fee, and fixed charges on top of your winning bid, then lets you add storage, transport, and tax so you can see a planning total to get the car home. Whether you need standard IAAI auction fees or a full fee stack by buyer type, this page walks through every input the tool accepts. The same steps work for IAA spelling searches (iaa fee calculator, iaa calculator).
You can run a forward estimate from a bid, or flip to reverse budget when you only know how much you are willing to spend. Fee tables in the tool were last checked against IAA’s published schedules on October 18, 2026. Amounts still change, so always match the result to your invoice and the vehicle page.
1. How to use this IAAI fee calculator
Start with the winning bid (or your budget in reverse mode). Then set vehicle type, buyer type, and bid method. The tool applies the matching published buyer-fee table and bid fee, adds the fixed lines you leave on, and shows a clear subtotal of IAA fees plus bid.
1.1 Forward mode — from bid to total
- Enter the final winning bid in dollars.
- Choose vehicle type: Standard, Heavy, or Rec Rides.
- Choose who is buying: Public / no license, Licensed standard volume, or Licensed high volume.
- Choose bid method: Live online or Proxy (this changes the bid fee).
- Leave the $105 service fee on unless your branch waives it. Turn on premium imagery only if you ordered it.
- Enter EH&S / fuel surcharge from the lot page or invoice. The total stays incomplete until you add it.
- Optional: storage days and daily rate, transport, other costs, and sales tax percent.
- Read Bid + IAA fees first, then the full “total to get it home” once EH&S and your extras are in.
1.2 Reverse budget — maximum bid for a fixed total
Switch to Reverse Budget when you know the most you can spend. Enter that budget, keep the same vehicle, buyer, and method settings, and fill the same optional costs. The calculator searches for the highest bid that still fits under your budget after published fees and the extras you entered.
1.3 What the breakdown shows
Published IAA lines appear first: buyer fee, bid fee, service fee, title-handling fee, and optional imagery. Under that you see Bid + IAA fees. Your estimates (EH&S, storage, transport, tax, other) sit in a second block so you never confuse official schedule fees with costs you still have to confirm.
You can edit any published fee line for this session only. That helps when your invoice shows a one-off adjustment. The tool always reloads from the published schedule on a fresh start. Near a fee band edge, a fee-step alert can show how much extra buyer and bid fees you would pay if the bid moves up one step, or that the schedule is about to switch to a percentage.
2. IAAI Buyer fees, auction fees, and who is buying
Most searches for an iaai fee calculator or iaa fee calculator really ask two things: what is the buyer fee on this bid, and what else will IAA add. The answer depends on vehicle type and buyer status.
2.1 How much are IAAI buyer fees?
IAAI buyer fees rise with the winning bid and change by vehicle type and buyer status. Enter the bid, choose Standard, Heavy, or Rec Rides, then pick public, licensed standard, or high volume. The calculator applies the matching published table and shows the buyer-fee line in the breakdown. When the bid crosses that schedule’s threshold, the tool switches from a fixed amount to the published percentage for that table.
2.2 Public / non-licensed vs licensed volume
Public and non-licensed buyers use the standard non-licensed table. Licensed buyers can fall under standard volume or high volume. In the tool, high volume means a business license on file with IAA, 25 or more vehicles purchased and $75,000 or more in total vehicle sales in the past 12 months, and fewer than 5 bidder accounts. Open “What counts as high volume?” under the buyer control if you need that definition while you work. The calculator includes all three buyer choices so you can compare fees before you bid.
Use the buyer-type comparison on the results side when you want public, standard, and high-volume side by side for the same bid. Fee edits you type for this session clear when you change the bid, vehicle, buyer, or method, so a custom line does not stick to the wrong scenario.
2.3 Standard, heavy, and Rec Rides
Standard vehicles follow the main passenger and light-duty tables. Heavy vehicles use a different schedule and different percentage thresholds at higher bids. Rec Rides and powersport units have their own volume table; the tool notes when a high-volume Rec table is not published and falls back to the standard Rec schedule for planning.
2.4 IAAI fee schedule and percentage thresholds
Each published schedule uses tiered fixed buyer fees up to a threshold, then a percentage above that point. The calculator selects the correct table from your vehicle and buyer choices and applies the matching step or percentage automatically. Thresholds and rates differ for standard, heavy, and Rec Rides, and for public versus high-volume buyers. Always confirm the live schedule on the sale date; the tool’s tables were last verified October 18, 2026.
2.5 Live vs proxy: IAAI bid fee (virtual / internet)
Bid method changes the bid fee tier. Live online and proxy are both in the tool. Pick the method you actually use on the sale so the bid-fee line matches your invoice style. This charge is sometimes called an internet bid fee or virtual bid fee when the vehicle is awarded through a successful online bid.
3. Fixed charges and costs you enter yourself
IAA publishes several fixed or optional lines that sit next to the buyer fee. The calculator starts from those published figures and leaves yard-specific amounts blank until you type them.
3.1 Service, title, and imagery
The service fee defaults on at the published amount. Title-handling is included as a fixed line. Premium imagery is optional and only adds when you turn it on. Gate fee is called out in the results as not charged on the 2026 published schedule the tool was built from — still verify your branch if an invoice shows something different.
3.2 EH&S, storage, transport, and tax
EH&S and fuel surcharge are not pre-filled. Enter the amount from the vehicle page or your invoice (often in a typical $10–$15 range, but use the figure on the lot). Storage is days beyond the free period times the daily rate you enter; free days vary by branch. Transport and other costs are free-form so you can include haul-away or shop fees. If you need a full IAAI transport calculator or shipping estimate later, enter your hauler quote here for now so the total reflects landed cost. Sales tax can apply to the bid alone or to bid plus fees, depending on the checkbox.
Blank optional fields count as zero. Until EH&S is entered, the tool marks the grand total incomplete on purpose. That keeps a partial fee subtotal from looking like a finished “drive it home” number. Use Print or save as PDF when you want a clean receipt with the disclaimer and sources.
4. Worked example: IAA fee calculator on a $3,500 bid (planning only)
Suppose you win a standard vehicle at $3,500 as a public buyer on a live online bid. You leave the service fee on, skip imagery, and enter $12 for EH&S, 3 storage days at $25/day, $180 transport, and 0% tax for a quick look.
The calculator first returns the published IAA fee stack for that bid, buyer type, and method, then adds your EH&S, storage, and transport. Your screen will show Bid + IAA fees as one figure and total to get it home as another. Change buyer type or switch to proxy and the bid fee and buyer fee lines update from the matching table.
This is a planning walk-through only. Your real invoice and the official schedule on the sale date control the final amount.
5. IAAI fees vs Copart fees
Many buyers check both auctions. IAA and Copart use different fee schedules, membership rules, and yard practices. Run the same bid idea through this IAAI fee calculator and through the Copart Fee Calculator so you can compare published fee stacks before you bid.
Neither tool replaces the live auction invoice. Both exist so you can see buyer fees, fixed lines, and a path to a “total to get it home” number with the extras you still control (storage, transport, tax).

7. Frequently asked questions on IAAI fee calculator
What does an IAAI fee calculator include?
This one includes published buyer fees by vehicle and buyer type, bid fees for live or proxy, service and title lines, optional imagery, and fields for EH&S, storage, transport, other costs, and tax. It also has a reverse-budget mode for a maximum bid under a fixed total.
Is “IAA” the same as “IAAI” for fees?
People search both. The schedules this tool uses come from IAA’s published buyer and bid fee tables. Use the same calculator for iaa fee calculator and iaai fee calculator style queries; still confirm the invoice for the sale you are on.
How much are IAAI buyer fees?
Buyer fees depend on the winning bid, vehicle type, and whether you are public, standard volume, or high volume. Enter those three inputs and the tool applies the matching published table. Percentage rates kick in above the thresholds shown for each schedule.
Do IAAI fees include storage?
Published buyer and bid fees do not include storage. Enter storage days and a daily rate in the post-auction section if you want storage in the total. Rates vary by yard and free-day policy, so use the number from your branch or invoice.
What is the difference between live and proxy bid fees?
IAA publishes separate bid-fee amounts for live online and proxy bidding by bid band. Choose the method you used (or plan to use). The calculator updates the bid-fee line from that choice.
What is reverse budget on this calculator?
Reverse budget finds the highest winning bid that still keeps bid plus published IAA fees plus the extras you entered under a total budget you set. It uses the same fee tables as the forward calculator.
Does the total include transport?
Only after you type a transport amount. The field is optional so you can leave it blank for a fees-only view or fill it when you have a hauler quote.
Why is the grand total marked incomplete?
The tool refuses to show a finished “total to get it home” until you enter EH&S / fuel surcharge. Blank storage, transport, other, and tax fields count as zero. EH&S is different: it is not a single published national number in the schedules this build uses, so you must supply it from the lot or invoice.
Can I compare public and licensed fees?
Yes. Open the buyer-type comparison on the results panel. It runs the same bid through public, standard volume, and high volume so you can see how the published fee stack changes. Session fee edits do not apply inside that comparison, so the three columns stay on published rates.
What counts as high volume for IAAI fees?
High volume requires a business license on file with IAA, 25 or more vehicles purchased and $75,000 or more in total vehicle sales in the past 12 months, and fewer than 5 bidder accounts. The calculator repeats that definition under the buyer control. Confirm eligibility with IAA; the tool does not check your account.
Does this replace the official IAA fee schedule?
No. It is a planning aid built from published tables verified on October 18, 2026. IAA can update fees. Your invoice and the current official schedule control the amount you pay.
How does this relate to a Copart fee calculator?
Both tools answer “what will auction fees add to my bid?” for different platforms. Use this page for IAA / IAAI and the Copart Fee Calculator for Copart. Cross-checking both is normal when you bid on either site.
Are membership or registration fees in the total?
No. Membership and registration are account-level costs. The calculator focuses on the fee stack tied to a single winning bid. Check IAA’s account pages for membership and registration amounts.
8. External references
Confirm current schedules and account rules on official IAA channels before you bid:
- IAA / IAAI official site
- Published buyer fee and auction fee documents linked from your IAA account or the vehicle page (URLs change; use the copy attached to your sale)
9. Limits and disclaimer
This IAAI fee calculator is a planning aid. It does not replace IAA’s official fee schedule, your buyer agreement, or the invoice for a specific lot. It does not calculate membership, registration, late charges beyond what you type, or every branch-level surcharge. EH&S, storage, transport, and tax are user-entered for a reason: they are not a single fixed national line in the published tables this build uses.
Fee schedules in the tool were last verified October 18, 2026. Always re-check the live schedule and your invoice. Key Calculators is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by IAA / IAAI.
